INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNICATION/ PENGENALAN KEPADA KOMUNIKASI
PURPOSE
The objective of the assignment is to evaluate students’ ability to discuss the effects of technology and the technological challenges that exist in communication technology.
REQUIREMENT
Many policies, initiatives, programmes and projects are identified and executed to give a clear understanding on the serious efforts of Malaysia in becoming a communication technology community. At a national level, there are various reasons why the government plan and implement all the strategies to develop Information and Communication Technology (ICT) usage. Among others are to increase the competition in the world economy and also to serve as a tool to solve local economic problems; to improve and restore the quality of life and the welfare of a country as well as being able to provide more job opportunities for the fellow citizens; and to ensure that the country achieves the informative society status and stands on par with other developed countries.
Based on the above statement:
i. Discuss the impacts of ICT on the Malaysian community and culture.
ii. What are the challenges faced by users with regards to communication technology?
iii. Suggest solution to the challenges faced by users with regards to communication technology in Malaysia.
iv. Once you completed writing the essay part – your next task is to prepare a video for 5-minute duration to show/present all the impacts and challenges of communication technology that have been discussed in your essay:
· Use your creativity in preparing the video presentation – it could be prepared by using (a) PowerPoint Slides and present; OR (b) Still photos or YouTube and present; OR (c) Any other creative way to develop your video presentation.
· However, please make sure your voice and face can be identified and seen during the presentation for evaluation purposes (refer to the rubric of video presentation).
· Then, upload the video on YouTube (refer to the instructions given in the provided manual. The manual can be downloaded in MyINSPIRE – Assignment Folder).
· Once you have uploaded your video on YouTube, there will be a link of your video that you need to “copy and paste” it in your essay document (Word file), at the last page of your essay (before the bibliography/references).
Your essay should include relevant examples, images, citations etc. to support your discussion.
TUJUAN
Objektif tugasan ini adalah untuk menilai kemampuan pelajar dalam membincangkan kesan teknologi dan cabaran-cabaran teknologi yang wujud dalam komunikasi.
KEPERLUAN
Pelbagai polisi, inisiatif, program dan projek telah dikenalpasti dan dilaksanakan untuk memberi pemahaman yang jelas tentang usaha serius Malaysia untuk menjadi komuniti teknologi komunikasi. Di peringkat negara, terdapat beberapa sebab mengapa kerajaan merancang dan melancarkan strategi-strategi untuk menggiatkan penggunaan Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi (ICT). Antaranya termasuklah bagi meningkatkan daya saing dalam ekonomi dunia dan dalam masa yang sama bertindak untuk menyelesaikan masalah ekonomi tempatan; meningkatkan dan memperbaiki kualiti kehidupan dan kebajikan negara dan seterusnya mencipta peluang pekerjaan kepada rakyat; serta untuk memastikan negara mencapai status masyarakat bermaklumat dan setanding dengan negara maju yang lain.
Berdasarkan penyataan di atas:
i. Bincangkan impak ICT terhadap komuniti di Malaysia dan budaya.
ii. Apakah cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi oleh pengguna di Malaysia berkaitan dengan teknologi komunikasi?
iii. Cadangkan penyelesaian terhadap cabaran-cabaran yang dihadapi oleh pengguna di Malaysia berkaitan dengan teknologi komunikasi.
iv. Setelah anda melengkapkan tugasan bahagian esei - tugas anda seterusnya adalah menyediakan video berdurasi 5-minit untuk menunjukkan/membentangkan kesemua impak dan cabarang teknologi komunikasi yang telah dibincangkan dalam esei anda:
· Gunakan kreativiti anda dalam menyediakan persembahan/pembentangan video tersebut dengan menggunakan (a) Slaid PowerPoint dan bentangkan; ATAU (b) Gambar pegun atau YouTube dan bentangkan; ATAU (c) apa-apa cara yang kreatif untuk membangunkan persembahan video anda.
· Walau bagaimanapun, sila pastikan suara dan wajah anda boleh dikenalpasti dan dilihat semasa pembentangan tersebut bagi tujuan penilaian (rujuk rubrik untuk persembahan video).
· Kemudian, muatnaik video tersebut ke YouTube (rujuk arahan yang diberikan dalam manual yang disediakan). Manual tersebut boleh dimuat-turun di MyINSPIRE – Folder Assignment).
· Apabila video telah dimuatnaik ke YouTube, satu pautan (link) video akan terhasil dan anda perlu salin dan ‘tampal’ (paste) pautan tersebut ke dalam fail esei (Word file) anda, di muka surat terakhir esei anda (sebelum bibliografi/rujukan).
Tugasan ini sebenarnya kami pernah buat sebelum ini cuma mungkin soalannya diubah-ubah setiap semester. Namun kehendak soalan sebenarnya adalah hampir sama setiap semester.
