OBJECTIVE: The purpose of the assignment is to evaluate the learners understanding and critical thinking skills about the pathology of haemorrhagic disorders. SYNOPSIS: In order to stop haemorrhage, haemostasis is a mechanism by which the body restores damage to a blood vessel wall. A haemostatic plug is created at the site of injury by the interaction of the vessel wall, platelets, and factors of coagulation. The coagulation mechanism produces thrombin from prothrombin as the plug is formed, thus inducing the formation of a fibrin clot.
