SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this assignment is to enable the students to enhance their knowledge on the hazard prevention control.
ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
A workplace hazard refers to a situation within the workplace that has the potential to cause injury or adverse health effects for people and damage to the plant and/or equipment. Hazards are present at every workplace and come from a wide number of sources. Failure to address workplace hazards may cause short term or long term harm to workers. Identifying and eliminating them is a major component of maintaining a safe workplace. General examples of workplace hazards include any substance, material, activity or process that has the potential to cause harm or injury under specific conditions. A common way of identifying workplace hazards is to classify them into various categories.
Recently, the accidents case are frequently happened in your workplace. It involved minor and major injuries and also affecting the productivity. As appointed project leader, you are responsible to prepare a report and presentation to your top management regarding your workplace hazards. Choose any previous or current project or suitable project example as your case study (Example: construction industry, oil and gas, piping work, manufacturing and etc)
TASK 1 (DOCUMENTATION)
The report should consist of:
i) Introduction: Describe the project’s background, location, and map.
ii) Contents:
§ Categories of workplace hazards. Explain in details with relevant examples. Give comprehensive related literature review.
§ Factors: Discuss the possible factors of the workplace hazards.
§ Prevention and Control: Suggest the best way to control the workplace hazards.
iii) Conclusion
TASK 2 (VIDEO PRESENTATION)
Prepare a video presentation for Task 1. The duration is three (3) minutes. Capture a video presentation of yourself with the slide presentation and upload it in YouTube. Attach the YouTube link of your video presentation in the report. You may refer to this link on how to upload video on YouTube:
Tips:
· Make sure your presentation has a structure (i.e. is there a beginning, middle and end?)
· Make sure you have a good conclusion. It helps to repeat your main point and summarise your findings.
· The presentation is very short so try to only make one or two very good points, or in other words, do not be too ambitious with what you want to include.
